Unbeaten Adventures in Up/ Down mountainbike magazine

it is an honour to be in the mountain bike magazine that helped me become the mountain biker I am today

I am humbled to be in the Up/ Down mountainbike magazine with an article about all the beauty Ainsa & Zona Zero has to offer. And beyond stoked that I am on the cover too, that to me was a huge surprise. Up/Down mountainbike magazine was a huge inspiration for me back when I still lived in the Netherlands and now I appear in it myself.

I want to say a big thank you to editor and friend Harm Spoelstra, for creating the article. I look back on a great weekend of mountain biking with Harm in Ainsa mid-February in epic weather conditions. I know Harm from a few years before I moved to Spain. Ever since I moved to Ainsa we have tried to find a way to ride together and create this article. And now we found a way and the time.

If you understand Dutch, then buy the magazine here. If you don’t understand Dutch but you still want to support Up/Down then also buy it here.

Up/Down was the first (Dutch) mountain bike magazine that made articles about trail & enduro riding, the first (dutch) magazine that portrayed mountain bikers without wearing lycra. Just like me, the mountain bikers in the Up/Down were wearing shorts. It felt as if Up/Down was create for me. I have been a fan of Up/ Down mountainbike magazine ever since it was started by the brothers Bas and Michiel Rotgans back in 2011. I think Harm, Bas and Michiel shaped the modern mountain bike landscape in the Netherlands. Mountain biking in the Netherlands was and is dominated by Crosscountry mountain bikers, but Up/Down showed the alternative more playful, more fun and more adventures side of mountain biking to the Dutch bikers.

To me it is an honour to be in the mountain bike magazine that helped me become the mountain biker I am today.

Thanks Harm for coming over to Ainsa and for sharing my story and that of Zona Zero
